About
Den Haag's Dave Huismans picked up music production in 2003 without being able to read a single note, teaching himself on a laptop and eventually building one of the more distinctive voices in dubstep under the name 2562. His sound pulls heavily from techno, giving his tracks a harder, more mechanical edge than the genre's usual fare. He also records as A Made Up Sound and Dogdaze, each alias covering different stylistic territory. His debut as 2562, Aerial on Tectonic Records, landed to strong reviews in 2008, and he followed it up with Unbalance and Fever across the next few years. The 2014 album The New Today was named album of the week on 3VOOR12, and the British magazine Clash placed him eighth on their list of top producers of 2011. Live, he has played venues and festivals including the Melkweg, Amsterdam Dance Event, Eurosonic Noorderslag, and Pitch Festival.
