About

Black Light Burns built their sound around Wes Borland, the guitarist best known for his years with Limp Bizkit, who pushed the project in a heavier, more industrial direction after encouragement from Trent Reznor to stop playing it safe. Their 2007 debut, Cruel Melody, came together with serious heavyweight contributors: producer Danny Lohner, drummer Josh Freese, and keyboardist Josh Eustis all had a hand in shaping it, and the album moved 6,000 copies in its first week in the US alone. Tracks from that record turned up in the TV series Burn Notice, the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launch trailer, and the film Underworld. After a covers and b sides release in 2008 and a period of regrouping, the band came back strong in 2012 with The Moment You Realize You're Going to Fall, followed just months later by the concept album Lotus Island in early 2013. Borland has always been the one constant in the lineup, with the studio and touring rosters shifting around him depending on who was available.
