About
Blackberry Smoke holds a pretty remarkable distinction: they became the first independent act to top the Billboard Country Albums chart in modern history, doing it not once but twice, with Holding All The Roses in 2015 and Like An Arrow in 2016. The Atlanta band plays a gutsy blend of southern rock with country and blues rock running through it, and they've shared stages with everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top to Guns N' Roses. Their 2021 album You Hear Georgia, produced by Dave Cobb and featuring Jamey Johnson and Warren Haynes, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Americana chart and landed at the top of both country and rock album sales in its first week. The band has also kept a busy live presence over the years, touring across the US, Europe, Australia, and South America. Founding drummer Brit Turner passed away in March 2024 after a battle with glioblastoma, a loss that hit the band and its fanbase hard.
