Blue Lab Beats are a London duo made up of producer and multi instrumentalist David Mrakpor and producer Namali Kwaten, and their sound pulls from jazz, hip hop, soul and electronic music in ways that put them at the heart of the UK jazz resurgence. They built a following through collaborations with Moses Boyd, Nubya Garcia, Kojey Radical and Sampa the Great, and their run of releases from the Blue Skies EP in 2016 through to their debut album Xover and the follow up Voyage helped cement their reputation. Their profile grew significantly when their production work on Angélique Kidjo's album Mother Nature took home the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album. Their 2022 Blue Note album Motherland Journey brought in voices from across the UK and international jazz and soul scenes, and they followed it up with Blue Eclipse in 2024. Along the way they also picked up the Jazz FM Innovation Award and a MOBO nomination for Best Jazz Act.
