Breakbot, the project of French producer Thibaut Berland, has a knack for making electronic music that feels like a long lost funk record you found at a flea market. Signed to Ed Banger Records since 2009, he built his reputation on sharp remixes for the likes of Röyksopp, Digitalism, and Chromeo before his own track "Baby I'm Yours" featuring Irfane became a genuine summer anthem, got nominated at the UK Music Video Awards, and later turned into an unlikely internet meme paired with the announcement of Saddam Hussein's capture. Bruno Mars apparently loved "Baby I'm Yours" enough that his 2012 hit "Treasure" ended up being re registered with Breakbot and Irfane listed as co writers over the similarities, something Breakbot publicly called a rip off while staying pretty relaxed about it. His second album Still Waters arrived in 2016, again made with Irfane, and his music has popped up in games from Gran Turismo 5 to Forza Horizon 3. He also quietly contributed a track to the Star Wars Headspace compilation for Disney.
