Bruno Mars built his reputation as a songwriter and producer before anyone knew his face, co founding the production team the Smeezingtons and penning tracks for a string of other artists. His own recording career took off after featuring on B.o.B's 'Nothin' on You' in 2009, and the albums that followed, Doo Wops & Hooligans, Unorthodox Jukebox, and 24K Magic, stacked up hits at a relentless pace. 'Just the Way You Are', 'Locked Out of Heaven', 'Uptown Funk' with Mark Ronson, 'That's What I Like', the list goes on. 24K Magic swept the Grammys, taking Album of the Year among its six wins that night. What sets Mars apart is the sheer range he operates in, moving between funk, soul, pop and rock without ever sounding like he's trying on costumes. His live shows, backed by the Hooligans, are famously tight and theatrical. In 2021 he teamed up with Anderson.Paak as Silk Sonic, releasing the sleek retro soul album An Evening with Silk Sonic and hitting number one with 'Leave the Door Open'. He has since scored further chart toppers with Lady Gaga on 'Die with a Smile' and with Rosé on 'APT.', proving his commercial pull shows no sign of letting up.
