Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Burna Boy broke through in 2012 with "Like to Party", the lead single from his debut album L.I.F.E. After signing with Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group in 2017, he built a catalogue that made him the first African artist to have two albums surpass one billion streams on Spotify. His 2020 album Twice as Tall won Best World Music Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards, while Love, Damini became the highest-debuting Nigerian album on the Billboard 200 and the highest-charting African album in France, the Netherlands, and the UK. He has taken home Best International Act at the BET Awards four times, and Rolling Stone placed him at number 197 on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time.
