About
Candelabro hit the Chilean independent scene hard with their 2023 debut Ahora o nunca, a record that blends Latin American fusion, pop synthesizers and a kind of syrupy melodic sensibility into something unmistakably Chilean. Rolling Stone picked them out as one of the most relevant bands in the country's indie circuit, and CityLab Global nominated the album for Best Album of the Year in the alternative category. The seven piece from Santiago draws on a wide range of influences, from Wilco and the British Windmill scene to Chilean legends like Congreso, Fulano and Los Prisioneros. Their sophomore album Deseo, carne y voluntad landed in 2025 to serious critical attention. La Tercera's Marcelo Contreras named it Chilean album of the year, and it went on to win CityLab Global's Best Album award for 2025. The record has been described as conceptually ambitious, exploring spirituality with a street level feel and an unconventional musical approach that sits comfortably within Latin and progressive rock territory.
