About
Celine Cairo has a knack for reinventing her own material. The Dutch singer songwriter recorded her debut album Free Fall in Los Angeles with producer Bill Lefler, whose credits include Ingrid Michaelson and Dotan, giving the record a distinctly polished, electronic tinged sound. Then in 2018 she stripped the whole thing back, re recording every song in an acoustic setting at studio Helmbreker in Haarlem, releasing the result as The Hector Sessions. It's a bold move to revisit an album so thoroughly, and it speaks to how much she invests in the songs themselves rather than just the production around them. Her catalogue now spans four studio albums and three EPs, stretching from her self titled 2010 debut EP through to Overflow in 2021, which landed at number 42 in the Dutch Album Top 100. Along the way she picked up the Radio 2 Talent title and became an ambassador for Rise Up, a BumaStemra initiative pushing for equal opportunities for women in the music industry.
