About

Also known as: Christophe Cross, Christopher Charles Geppert, Cristopher Cross, Cross, Christopher

Christopher Cross pulled off something nobody had done before at the 1980 Grammy Awards: he swept all four general field categories in a single night, taking Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, all for his self titled debut. "Sailing" alone earned three Grammys, and his follow up single "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", co written with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen, went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Song. Both singles topped the Billboard Hot 100, and the debut album has moved over five million copies in the US. His second album Another Page kept the momentum going with "Think of Laura" and "All Right", though the MTV era proved a tough environment for his warm, smooth brand of soft rock and adult contemporary. Cross is also a serious guitarist, someone good enough that Steely Dan's Donald Fagen and Walter Becker personally invited him to play on their records. Lately he has been sharing remastered visuals for his classic tracks, and 2025 saw a 45th anniversary video for "Ride Like the Wind".
