About

Also known as: Cosmo Christopher Sheldrake

Cosmo Sheldrake grew up in a pretty remarkable household: his father is parapsychologist Rupert Sheldrake, his mother a voice teacher, and his brother Merlin is a mycologist. That background in science, sound, and the natural world has clearly shaped his music, which sits somewhere between folktronica, indie folk, and experimental electronic, and tends to treat the sonic environment as its own instrument. Based in London, Sheldrake has been building his catalogue steadily since his debut single 'The Moss' in 2014. His records lean into improvisation, nonsense, and what he calls the 'sonorous environment', and he has scored Samuel Beckett plays at the Young Vic alongside performing with acts like Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit. He runs his own label, Tardigrade Records, named after the microscopic creatures he once imagined himself as on his debut EP. Wider audiences found him when his song 'Come Along' turned up in an Apple iPhone XR ad, landing him on the US Digital Songs chart. His most recent album, Eye to the Ear, came out in 2024.
