Cypress Hill

About
Also known as: Cyprerss Hill
In 2019, Cypress Hill became the first hip hop group to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a fitting landmark for a crew that helped define West Coast hip hop from the jump. Formed in South Gate, California in 1988 around B Real, Sen Dog, DJ Muggs and later percussionist Eric Bobo, the group built their reputation on hazy, hard hitting production and a bilingual style that wove English and Spanish together long before that was a mainstream move. They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Their first two albums are genuine classics of 1990s hip hop. Black Sunday debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in 1993, and "Insane in the Brain" crossed over in a big way. The group also has a well known commitment to cannabis legalization, famously lighting up on Saturday Night Live and getting banned from the show for it. More recently their 2018 output included tracks like "Crazy", "Muggs Is Dead" and the Sick Jacken collaboration "Locos".
