About
Chris Daughtry finished fourth on season five of American Idol and turned down an offer to front Fuel before building something of his own. He named the band after himself to keep the recognition he had earned from the show, a practical move that paid off fast. The self titled debut, produced by Howard Benson and released in late 2006, became the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history, eventually selling more than six million copies in the US and landing number one on the Billboard 200. Singles like 'It's Not Over' and 'Home' drove it into the pop culture mainstream, and the record was named the best selling album of 2007 by Billboard. They kept the momentum going with Leave This Town in 2009, which also debuted at number one, making Daughtry the first American Idol act to score two chart topping albums. Subsequent records including Break the Spell, Baptized, Cage to Rattle, and Dearly Beloved have kept the band active across more than fifteen years. All told, they have moved over nine million albums and more than 25 million digital tracks in the US alone.
