About
Angus Stone, the Australian half of sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, has been making music under the name Dope Lemon since around 2016, carving out a distinctly looser, more psychedelic corner for himself away from the folk pop he's known for with his sister. The project leans into hazy, laid back indie and psychedelic rock, a direction that feels like a natural extension of his solo instincts rather than a side detour. Before Dope Lemon, he had already proven he could hold his own outside the duo, releasing the solo album Broken Brights in 2012, which peaked at number 2 in Australia and drew comparisons to Bob Dylan for its dusty, effortlessly cool sound. Tracks like "Honey Bones" and "Marinade" set the Dope Lemon tone early, and "Hey You" followed in 2021, showing he keeps returning to this project with genuine creative investment.
