About
Also known as: Earsure
Vince Clarke — previously a co-founder of Depeche Mode and Yazoo — and lead vocalist Andy Bell formed Erasure in London in 1985, and the synth-pop duo went on to become one of the most successful acts of the mid-1980s to mid-1990s. From 1986 to 2007 they landed 24 consecutive top 40 entries on the UK Singles Chart, with 17 of those reaching the top 10. Five consecutive UK number 1 albums followed from The Innocents onward, including the Mercury Prize-nominated Chorus and the ABBA tribute EP Abba-esque, which also topped the chart. Across a catalogue of more than 200 songs, they have sold over 28 million albums worldwide.
