Also known as: DJ Ferry Corsten, Ferry Corsten presents Pulse, Ferry Korsten
Ferry Corsten basically helped define what trance sounded like in the late 1990s. Operating out of Rotterdam, he built an empire of aliases, with System F, Gouryella (a collaboration with Tiësto), and Moonman among the most recognisable. System F's "Out of the Blue" hit the UK Top 20 in 1999, and the Gouryella singles "Gouryella" and "Walhalla" both went Gold. As a remixer he was just as in demand, working on tracks for Moby, Faithless, U2 and William Orbit, with his rework of Barber's "Adagio for Strings" winning best remix at the 2000 Dancestar Awards. Over the years Corsten has broadened his sound from pure trance into progressive house and wider electronic territory. He hosts the weekly Resonation Radio show and keeps a heavy festival schedule, including appearances at Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival. DJ Mag ranked him at number 5 in both 2004 and 2005, and he was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange Nassau in 2022 for his contributions to Dutch music.
