About
Also known as: ガービッジ
Garbage built their sound around a remix sensibility, layering guitar hooks and bass grooves the way producers work rather than a conventional band. That approach paid off fast: their 1995 debut sold over four million copies and went double platinum in the UK, the US, and Australia, powered by singles like "Stupid Girl" and "Only Happy When It Rains". Fronted by Scottish vocalist Shirley Manson alongside producers Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig, the Madison, Wisconsin outfit followed up with Version 2.0, which topped the UK Albums Chart and earned two Grammy nominations. They even co wrote and performed the theme for the Bond film The World Is Not Enough. After a rocky stretch that included a troubled fourth album and an indefinite hiatus, Garbage came back swinging. They self released Not Your Kind of People in 2012 on their own label, then kept the momentum going with Strange Little Birds in 2016 and No Gods No Masters in 2021. All told, they have shifted over 17 million albums worldwide, a number that speaks for itself.
