About
Jamie Woon is a British singer, songwriter and producer whose sound sits at the crossroads of soul, R&B and electronic music, built around his rich vocals layered over samplers, programming or sometimes just a single guitar. His breakthrough came with the 2010 single "Night Air", co produced by underground electronic figure Burial, which put him firmly on the map and landed him fourth in the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. His debut album Mirrorwriting followed in April 2011 on Polydor Records. After a quiet spell and some cancelled shows due to injury, Woon resurfaced in 2015 with a collaboration on Portico's album Living Fields and then dropped the single "Sharpness" ahead of his second album Making Time, released later that year. The groove based, vocal led approach he describes as his musical DNA has stayed consistent throughout, earning him a devoted following among fans of contemporary soul and post dubstep sounds.
