Lagwagon built their reputation the hard way, grinding through the 1990s punk boom as a band that turned down major label offers even while Green Day and The Offspring were blowing up. Based out of Goleta, California, they signed to Fat Wreck Chords and released their debut Duh in 1992, recording and mixing the whole thing in just four days. Their song "May 16" ended up in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, which cemented their status as a skate punk staple. The band name itself comes from their notoriously unreliable touring van. Over the years Lagwagon has put out nine studio albums on Fat Wreck Chords, including Resolve, a tribute to original drummer Derrick Plourde, and Hang, recorded at The Blasting Room with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore. They have never chased mainstream attention but have kept a devoted following across North America, Europe and Asia. The lineup has shifted plenty over the decades, though vocalist Joey Cape has remained the constant at the center of it all.
