Formed in Orlando in 1995, Matchbox Twenty broke through with their debut album Yourself or Someone Like You, which went 12× platinum in the United States and multi-platinum across Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Their follow-up Mad Season hit the top three on the Billboard 200 and earned 4× platinum certification. After a hiatus and lineup shifts — including the departure of rhythm guitarist Adam Gaynor — the band reunited, and their 2012 album North debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The current lineup of Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kyle Cook has continued recording, releasing their fifth studio album Where the Light Goes in 2023.
