About
Michael Medrano has been quietly building something with real personality in the dance pop and electro disco space, and his second studio album The Penthouse, released in early 2025, makes that pretty clear. Coming five years after his debut LoveSexDrugs, the record was executive produced by Mads Mason and features a cast of collaborators including That Kid, Gregory Dillon, and production duo Husky and Pug. Medrano has described it as doing things his way this time around, no people pleasing, just a good time captured on tape. The album was teased across six singles, including a cover of Madonna's 2003 track Hollywood and a remix of a That Kid song called Casino. A music video for the lead single Karma was directed by Robbie Joseph, who also handled photography and creative direction for the project. Two special customized editions with exclusive demos were put out to mark the release, suggesting Medrano is thinking carefully about how fans actually experience his music.
