About
Few bands have built a universe as distinctly their own as The Growlers. Out of Dana Point, California, they carved out a sound they call Beach Goth, blending surf, pop, rock, and a loose, hazy quality that doesn't fit neatly anywhere else. Seven albums deep, they've ranged from the lo fi folk weirdness of their early Everloving Records output to the slicker, Julian Casablancas produced City Club in 2016, which marked a sharper, more polished direction for the band. Beyond the records, The Growlers turned their aesthetic into a full blown festival, running Beach Goth annually since 2012. The lineup philosophy is genuinely chaotic in the best way, pulling in everyone from Bon Iver to Gucci Mane to the Butthole Surfers. They've also shared stages and toured with The Black Keys, Devendra Banhart, and Jonathan Richman, and played nearly every major festival circuit stop from Coachella to Primavera Sound.
