About
Also known as: Mateo Palacios Corrazzina
Growing up in La Boca, one of Buenos Aires' most iconic neighbourhoods, Trueno was practically born into freestyle rap. His father is Uruguayan rapper MC Peligro, a seasoned freestyle competitor, and his paternal grandfather Yamandú Palacios was a folk singer and guitarist who shared stages with legends like Alfredo Zitarrosa and Joan Manuel Serrat. Trueno himself had other plans at first and wanted to be a footballer, but by age 14 he was already winning tournaments. He built his reputation on the freestyle circuit, taking the national title at Red Bull's Batalla de los Gallos Argentina in 2019, then made a serious leap into recorded music with his 2020 debut album Atrevido. The track "Mamichula", made with Nicki Nicole and Bizarrap, hit number one on Argentina's Billboard Hot 100 and clocked over 100 million YouTube views in just over a month. His earlier session with Bizarrap, BZRP Freestyle Sessions number 6, holds the record as the most viewed freestyle video on YouTube with over 250 million views. He has since worked with a wide range of artists including Gorillaz, J Balvin, Nathy Peluso, and El Alfa.
