X Ambassadors built their following the hard way, starting out under the name Ambassadors and grinding through early tours before a stroke of luck changed everything. Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds heard an acoustic version of their song "Unconsolable" on a Virginia radio station while he was in the hospital, and immediately pushed Interscope to sign them. That co sign opened doors fast, and the band went on to tour with Imagine Dragons, Panic! at the Disco, and Jimmy Eat World before their debut album VHS even dropped. VHS arrived in 2015 and gave them three songs that stuck around for years: "Renegades", "Jungle", and "Unsteady". Behind the scenes, they were also busy co writing tracks for Lizzo's Cuz I Love You and contributing to the Game of Thrones compilation For the Throne. Since then they have kept a restless pace, releasing the albums Orion in 2019, The Beautiful Liar in 2021, and Townie in 2024, while also finding time for collaborations with artists ranging from Eminem and Bebe Rexha to Illenium and K.Flay.
