Robert Glasper is a Houston-born pianist, producer, and arranger whose music draws from jazz, hip-hop, neo soul, and R&B. His breakout album Black Radio peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and took the Grammy for Best R&B Album. The following year brought Black Radio 2, and in 2015 he played keyboards on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly while also appearing on the Miles Ahead soundtrack. Beyond his own records, he has co-written or produced work for Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak, Herbie Hancock, Brittany Howard, Denzel Curry, and others. His song "A Letter to the Free," created with Common and Karriem Riggins for Ava DuVernay's documentary 13th, earned him a Primetime Emmy. He has held Artist in Residence roles at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Blue Note Jazz Club, among other major venues.
