Theater Floralis is housed in a 1920 building that once served as an auction house for the Cooperative Dutch Flower Centre on Grachtweg. Architects Mecanoo and builder Horsman & Co recently renovated and expanded the structure into a cultural venue for the bulb region. The main theater and cinema space occupies the former Mijnzaal, where flower auctions took place, now equipped with 251 seats arranged for optimal sightlines and wheelchair accessibility. Original architectural elements by Paardekooper have been preserved, including a fresco of Flora, the goddess of flowers, on the wall.
