About
Pablo Barragán is a clarinettist who moves comfortably between the standard repertoire and rarely performed works. He regularly brings together chamber ensembles to explore programmes that mix the familiar with the overlooked, such as pairing Mozart's Clarinet Quartet with Penderecki's take on the same form, Rebecca Clarke's Prelude, Allegro and Pastorale, and the seldom heard String Trio by Gideon Klein. That last piece alone says something about his curatorial instincts: Klein's trio is a genuine rarity on concert stages. Barragán tends to perform alongside other soloists of serious standing, assembling small groups rather than working with a fixed band.
