Winning X Factor Romania in 2018 put Bella Santiago on the map in a big way, but her journey there was already remarkable. Born in the Philippines, she moved to Bucharest in 2016 and turned heads as a finalist on Românii au talent that same year, before signing to Romanian label Cat Music. Her debut single 'Unpredictable' came out the following year, produced by Romanian artist Smiley, and she went on to collaborate with Romanian band Jukebox on a string of singles including 'Auzi cum bate' and 'Vocea ta'. She has made two bids to represent Romania at Eurovision, finishing fourth in Selecția Națională 2018 alongside Jukebox and then third as a solo act in 2019 with 'Army of Love'. Santiago also won season 14 of the Romanian version of Your Face Sounds Familiar, taking the finale with 87 points. Her mix of Filipino roots and Romanian pop sensibility makes her a genuinely singular figure in both music scenes.
