David Gogo is a Canadian blues guitarist and singer songwriter from Nanaimo, British Columbia, whose career spans more than three decades and 16 solo albums. His sound ranges from raw acoustic Delta blues, with a 1930 National Steel and a 1915 Gibson in his arsenal, to full band electric blues with a Hammond organ laying down the foundation. He's earned multiple Juno nominations and won Guitarist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards twice, in 2002 and 2004, largely off the strength of his blues soaked cover of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. Over the years he's shared stages with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and Jeff Healey, and his music even found its way onto the Steven Seagal film Kill Switch in 2008. His 2011 album Soul Bender, named after a Fulltone guitar pedal, won Blues Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards and showed just how comfortably he moves between originals and left field covers.
