Deize Tigrona built her name in Rio de Janeiro's funk carioca scene with tracks that pull no punches about sex and bodies, wrapped in beats designed to move people on the dancefloor. Her song "Injeção" is probably her most widely heard moment internationally, partly because M.I.A. used it as the foundation for "Bucky Done Gun", and the two have even shared a stage. The track samples the horns from "Gonna Fly Now", the Rocky theme, and laces the whole thing with layered sexual metaphors that have made some fellow funk artists uncomfortable, Tati Quebra Barraco among them. Tigrona's response is pretty straightforward: funk is for dancing, and people enjoy the wordplay. Her reach has stretched beyond Brazil too, with a guest appearance on British dance producer Greymatter's 2010 album on the track "Eu Fomo".
