Vancouver raised trumpet player Ingrid Jensen has been one of the most respected voices in jazz since her debut album Vernal Fields landed in the mid 1990s and picked up a Juno Award. Her sound sits comfortably in post bop territory, and she has shared stages and studios with a remarkable range of heavyweights, from Clark Terry and Billy Hart to Maria Schneider and Terri Lyne Carrington. She even appeared on Saturday Night Live backing Corinne Bailey Rae, and turned up in the horn section behind Denis Leary. Since 2020, Jensen has been part of Artemis, the all star jazz collective led by Renee Rosnes and signed to Blue Note Records. The group has put out a string of albums together, with Arboresque arriving in 2025. She also keeps recording under her own name, and her 2016 collaboration with sister Christine Jensen and guitarist Ben Monder, Infinitude, shows just how far her writing stretches beyond straight ahead jazz.
