Johannes Is Zijn Naam is the solo project of Belgian singer songwriter Johannes Verschaeve, based out of Oostende. After spending years as the frontman and guitarist of the rock band The Van Jets, he stepped out on his own in 2020 when the band called it a day. On stage he works entirely alone, delivering Dutch language songs with just himself and his guitar. His recent output shows no sign of slowing down. Tracks like Party Boy and A P P A R A A T followed the intimate De Toots Sessies session recordings, and in late 2024 he put out Symptomen, adding another chapter to a catalog that keeps growing since he went solo. If you like stripped back, sincere songwriting in Dutch, this is a project worth following.
