About
Winning the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Guitar Competition in 2005 put Norwegian guitarist Lage Lund firmly on the map, and he has been a fixture of the New York jazz scene ever since. Based in the city after moving there on a Fulbright grant, he went on to graduate from the Juilliard School jazz program and has played at some of the most respected rooms in the country, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and Smalls Jazz Club. As a leader he has built a steady catalog on labels like Criss Cross and Losen, with albums ranging from Early Songs and Foolhardy to Terrible Animals and the more recent Ashes in 2023. He is also a sought after sideman, lending his guitar to records by Wynton Marsalis, Maria Schneider, Ron Carter, and Melissa Aldana, among many others.
