About
Malibu, the project of French musician Barbara Braccini, sits somewhere between ambient, trance, and atmospheric electronic pop, with a sound critics have called diaristic, built around themes of memory and loss. Her 2017 track "Held" on the Berlin label PAN compilation Mono No Aware brought her to wider attention, and her 2019 debut EP One Life on UNO NYC and Joyful Noise Recordings locked in her signature blend of ethereal vocals and layered synths. She has kept busy across a range of collaborative work too, contributing voice and sound to animated films, appearing as a vocalist on tracks by cellist Oliver Coates, and handling production for artists including Bladee and Namasenda. In 2024 she teamed up with Swedish artist Merely for Essential Mixtape, recorded while she was living in Stockholm and released through YEAR0001. That relationship with the label carried through to 2025, when she released her debut full length album Vanities.
