Muzz, the English drum and bass producer and DJ born Mustafa Ahmed Alobaidi, broke through at around 14 or 15 years old when UKF picked up his track "X No Way Out" in 2010, a distorted, growly dubstep tune he half jokingly submitted after a string of rejections. Big names in the scene were hitting him up almost immediately. Since then he has built a solid home on the Monstercat label, dropping a run of EPs that show off real range, from heavy, gritty drum and bass to trap and dubstep. He engineers his music almost entirely by ear and by eye, using analyzers and meters rather than sheet music, which gives his productions a distinctive feel. His 2017 EP "Spectrum" is a good entry point, sweeping up awards for Best Album/EP, Best Original Track, and Best Artist in the drum and bass category. The conceptual "F Minor Factory" EP earlier showed another side of him, built around a dark sci fi story of a rebellious cyborg in an AI run factory. He has collaborated with fellow producers Droptek, Koven and Feint along the way, and his 2018 EP "The Cascade" kept raising the bar.
