Noisestorm, the Dublin based DJ and producer behind the stage name of Eoin O'Broin, essentially broke through on the back of a joke. Released on April Fools' Day 2018 via Monstercat, "Crab Rave" was meant as a bit of fun but quickly became one of the defining internet memes of that year, peaking at number 14 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The track's absurd charm and high energy drops made it impossible to ignore. After teaming up with UK hip hop outfit Foreign Beggars for "Breakout", a track that blended rap verses with sharp synths and punchy drops to strong critical notices, Noisestorm took his crustacean obsession further than anyone expected. On April Fools' Day 2023 he launched "Crab Champions" on Steam, a full video game complete with an original soundtrack he composed himself, with plans to bring that music to streaming platforms.
