About
Philadelphia's Nothing built their sound around walls of distorted guitars and angelic harmonies that sit somewhere between heavy metal and shoegaze, with later records drifting closer to dream pop. Domenic "Nicky" Palermo has been the driving force since founding the band in 2010, and the lineup has shifted around him ever since, pulling in members connected to acts like Cloakroom, Jesus Piece, Gouge Away and Best Coast along the way. On the recorded side, Nothing have put out five studio albums through Relapse Records, starting with Guilty of Everything in 2014 and running through The Great Dismal in 2020, which featured production from Will Yip and a guest spot from Alex G. A limited vinyl release, Don't Look For Light In Tunnels, marked their tenth anniversary in 2022 with a concept rooted in process music, inspired by Alvin Lucier. Their fifth album, A Short History Of Decay, arrived in early 2026. The band cites influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive to Metallica and the Smashing Pumpkins, and that breadth shows.
