About

Few blues guitarists have earned the kind of peer respect that Ronnie Earl has built over four decades of serious, soul deep playing. Born in Queens and rooted in the Boston blues scene, he spent years with Roomful of Blues before launching his solo career in 1986, and in 1984 he formed The Broadcasters, the band that would become his main creative vehicle. He named them after one of the first Fender guitars ever distributed, which is exactly the kind of detail that tells you how deep his love for the instrument runs. Earl has won the Blues Music Award for Guitar Player of the Year four times, and he spent five years as an associate professor at Berklee College of Music. His catalog with the Broadcasters now stretches to 26 studio albums, the latest being Mercy Me, released in 2022. Along the way he has recorded and performed with an impressive cast including Gregg Allman, Jimmy Rogers, and Duke Robillard, always keeping the focus on expressive, unhurried blues guitar.
