About

Sister Machine Gun got their name from a lyric in the Skinny Puppy song Tin Omen, which tells you something about where they were coming from. The Chicago based industrial rock outfit built their reputation through a string of releases on Wax Trax! Records in the 1990s, with Burn from 1995 being a genuine breakthrough. The title track landed on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack and became their most recognisable song, while the album itself peaked at number 9 on the CMJ Radio Top 200. Their follow up Metropolis spent over 14 weeks on that same chart, peaking at number 7, with Reeves Gabrels contributing guitar work. Chris Randall was the constant creative force behind the band, eventually moving their output to his own Positron! Records label after leaving Wax Trax!. The band officially called it quits in 2007, but Randall brought Sister Machine Gun back in 2015 with The Future Unformed on WTII Records, an album he had once vowed never to make.
