About
Slutever brought a loose, goofy energy to punk rock that set them apart from the more earnest corners of the genre. The Los Angeles based duo, Nicole Snyder and Rachel Gagliardi, built their sound around what critics described as grit punk with a memorably weird twist, earning strong notices for their 2015 EP Almost Famous. Robert Christgau gave it an A minus, praising the band for knowing exactly what they wanted to be and not straining for more than that. Though some critics reached for the riot grrrl label, Snyder pushed back on it, pointing out that their songs were never really about heavy issues. It was just two women making loud, fun punk music. Gagliardi also played in Upset and Pouty alongside her work in Slutever. The band called it a day in January 2017, leaving behind a small but sharp discography across a handful of singles and that final EP.
