About
Born in Aruba and based in the Netherlands since 2000, Smiley has built a steady presence in the European reggae scene through relentless touring and a string of well received riddim appearances. He spent three years on the road with Dutch reggae outfit Out of Many, then headed to Jamaica in 2008 to record with Altafaan Records and link up with Junior Kelly. The resulting track "Dem a Wonder" picked up airplay on Tempo TV, TMF Pure, and Jamaica's own Irie FM. His 2010 EP "The Lively Road" made a real mark, with the title track cracking the top ten in Curaçao and Bonaire that summer. That same year his songs landed on three of the five best voted German riddims according to Riddim Magazine readers, which says something about his reach in European reggae circles. He also teamed up with Anthony B on "Keep the Joy" and later recorded "Golddiggy" with Bishop Lamont.
