Uranium Club operate somewhere between punk, post punk, and the weird fringes of the egg punk scene, a DEVO influenced DIY subgenre that suits their deadpan, concept heavy approach perfectly. The Minneapolis four piece builds whole fictional universes around their records, complete with lore about a titular Club, the National Pen Company, and the Sunbelt Chemical Corporation. Their debut cassette Human Exploration got picked up by London's Static Shock Records after the band simply cold called the label's founder, and the relationship has stuck across multiple releases. Their 2016 album All of Them Naturals drew praise from Pitchfork for its twitchy neurosis and sardonic humor, while The Cosmo Cleaners from 2019 landed on Pitchfork's list of the year's ten best punk and garage rock albums, with critics pointing to its jagged satirical edge and a loose kinship with the Minutemen. Their fourth album Infants Under the Bulb arrived in early 2024 through Anti Fade Records and Static Shock, with Exclaim calling it complex but strangely accessible.
