About
Van Kaye & Ignit were a Dutch experimental synth act from Arnhem, working with synthesizers and drum machines to craft a minimal, electronic sound in the early 1980s. The duo of Van Kaye and Ignit released their debut cassette and a 7 inch on their own Ding Dong Disk label in 1981, and that same label would go on to release material by The Legendary Pink Dots and Attrition. By 1982 they expanded to a trio with the addition of producer Wizzkopf, and their track appeared on the VPRO radio compilation Radionome that year. They contributed a track to the 1984 compilation Three Minute Symphony alongside artists like Conrad Schnitzler and Merzbow. Their catalogue went quiet after 1985, but in 2011 the German label Vinyl on demand gave everything a proper reissue, packing all their releases into a five LP and 10 inch boxset that also included live recordings and previously unreleased material.
