Jorja Smith has a way of making deeply personal music feel universally resonant. Her 2018 debut album Lost & Found, written over five years, peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and earned her the Brit Critics' Choice Award, making her the first independent artist ever to win it. That same year she contributed to Kendrick Lamar's Black Panther soundtrack, performed at the Brit Awards alongside Rag'n'Bone Man, and picked up a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist for good measure. She first turned heads in 2016 with debut single Blue Lights, a track sampling Dizzee Rascal that racked up nearly half a million SoundCloud plays within a month and caught Drake's attention. He went on to feature her on two tracks from his More Life mixtape. Her third EP Be Right Back landed in 2021 to positive reviews, and her second studio album Falling or Flying followed in 2023. Most recently, she teamed up with AJ Tracey on the 2025 single Crush, which samples Brandy.
