Unnamed presents: ¿Guess Who?

The Tequila Club sits at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 28, a short walk from Leidseplein in central Amsterdam. It works as two things in one evening: a cocktail lounge early on, which then turns into a nightclub once the night gets going. The venue is built around tequila, and its drinks list leans on cocktails made with it. Its own description pairs a more refined lounge opening with DJ sets and table service later on, so the same space changes character between early evening and the small hours. The programming is mostly electronic and club oriented. Listings for the venue show house, tech house, techno, afro house, soulful house and hard dance, along with big room house and trance. Some nights are run by labels, promoters and collectives, such as showcase events and anniversary nights, rather than by a single in house concept. The Tequila Club is also used during Amsterdam Dance Event, where it is listed as one of the intimate venues around Leidseplein. For ADE it hosts both daytime and nighttime events, including label showcases that run from the afternoon into the late evening, and some editions of the festival have flagged it as a new festival venue. There is also a space called The Agave Room, which the venue offers for hire. Beyond that, the sources describe the concept and location rather than a long history, so there is little on when it opened or what it was before. What they do establish is a compact central Amsterdam club where cocktails come first and the music is aimed at dance floor crowds, with a steady schedule of weekend nights and festival period events.
