Named after the Dresden postal code of the neighbourhood they grew up in, 01099 are a four piece German rap group whose sound sits somewhere between hip hop and indie pop with a distinctly laid back, life affirming feel. Their 2020 debut album Morgensonne marked a shift away from the self described parody approach of their early work toward something more earnest and a little melancholic. It was the single Frisch, dropped in December 2020, that really broke them wide open, spreading rapidly on TikTok and eventually peaking at number 36 in the German singles chart. The group signed to Groove Attack in 2021 and kept the momentum going with Durstlöscher, which has racked up over 125 million Spotify streams. Their EP Dachfenster followed that same year, and the album Altbau brought a full tour in 2022. One thing that sets them apart: they actively reject sexist content as a core principle of the group.
