About
Named after the year the Black Death arrived in Norway, 1349 have built their reputation on relentless, firestorm black metal out of Oslo. Drummer Frost, also of Satyricon, anchors a lineup that takes its cues from Mayhem and Celtic Frost, the latter of whom vocalist Ravn credits as his defining influence. Their live shows have a flair for the theatrical too, with Frost and guitarist Archaon kicking things off by breathing fire. Their catalog spans eight studio albums, ranging from the full throttle assault of Hellfire to the darker, slower textures of Revelations of the Black Flame, which was co mixed by Celtic Frost's Tom Gabriel Fischer. Demonoir pulled things back toward their rawer roots, and the band has kept that intensity going ever since. Their most recent album, The Wolf and the King, landed in 2024.
