24kGoldn, born Golden Landis Von Jones in San Francisco, broke through with the 2019 single "Valentino", a high energy track that racked up over 350 million Spotify plays and landed him a deal with Columbia Records. That song put him on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time and earned a double platinum certification from the RIAA. Then in 2020 he went one better: "Mood" featuring Iann Dior climbed all the way to number one on the Hot 100, making him one of the more unlikely chart toppers of that year. His debut album El Dorado followed in March 2021, a thirteen track project with guest spots from Future, Swae Lee, DaBaby and Iann Dior. The record peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200. His sound resists easy labeling, pulling from hip hop, trap, cloud rap and pop rap depending on the track, and he has been pretty deliberate about keeping it that way, saying he never wants to be boxed into a single genre. In early 2024 he put out the EP Growing Pains.
