Detroit's 42 Dugg built his reputation on a slurred, Auto Tune drenched delivery that's immediately recognizable, topped off by a signature whistle that kicks off nearly every track. His big break came through a pair of 2020 collaborations with Lil Baby: "Grace" cracked the Billboard Hot 100, and then "We Paid" went even further, landing in the top ten and picking up a quintuple platinum certification from the RIAA. That momentum pushed his mixtape Young and Turnt 2 onto the Billboard 200, a debut that cemented him as one of Detroit trap's sharpest voices. Signed to both Lil Baby's 4PF and Yo Gotti's CMG through Interscope, he kept the run going into 2021 with Free Dem Boyz, a 19 track project dedicated to his incarcerated friends that peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200. The standout cut from that tape, "4 Da Gang" with Roddy Ricch, earned a gold certification, as did "Maybach" featuring Future. Billboard even named him their R&B and Hip Hop Rookie of the Month that same year.
