About

Named after the Las Vegas area code, 702 built their reputation on smooth, soulful R&B that defined a particular late 1990s sound. Their breakthrough came early, featuring on Subway's 1995 hit "This Lil' Game We Play", which cracked the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their debut album No Doubt followed in 1996, going gold and producing two more certified gold singles in "Steelo" and "Get It Together". A remix of "Steelo" even became the theme for the Nickelodeon show Cousin Skeeter, which says a lot about how embedded they were in that era's pop culture. Their self titled second album from 1999 is where they really hit their stride, going platinum and spawning "Where My Girls At?", a top five Billboard Hot 100 hit that most people still know by heart. Along the way they collaborated with Missy Elliott, opened for New Edition and Brandy, and accumulated over 4 million records sold before disbanding in 2006. They reunited at the 2017 Soul Train Music Awards, reminding everyone exactly why they mattered.
